channel 8, the local cbs affiliate, does this feature called "cool at school" where they highlight different things different schools are doing around town. last week they called my principal and asked if we had anything special going on, and my principal suggested they come and see our math program in action. being the math specialist at the school, i was chosen to be the spokesperson for our school and what our math program looks like.
they came thursday morning and filmed for about an hour. they got me teaching a lesson in a first grade classroom. they talked to the kiddos. they interviewed me briefly. they filmed the kiddos playing some math games. i was happy with how the kids responded to their questions as well as how they behaved while they were being filmed. overall, it went pretty smoothly.
it aired monday during morning and evening newscasts. they also put it on the channel 8 website. if you're interested in watching the entire segment (it's only a couple minutes), go to http://www.lasvegasnow.com/global/story.asp?s=5601186 . you'll have to search for the video a little bit; click on the numbers between "previous" and "next" underneath the video part. the title of the segment filmed at my school is "making math fun".
there's my "15 Minutes". don't blink. you might miss it.

Fun times! Lucky kids to have such a good and cool teacher!
And ... I seriously doubt that will be your only 15 minutes of fame. :)
